How IET Birmingham: Austin Court can open doors for you

Finding the right venue for an event involves more than simply booking a space – it’s about creating an environment that inspires ideas, nurtures connections, and drives real impact. IET Birmingham: Austin Court achieves this perfectly.

A venue with strong industry ties

As part of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), Austin Court offers not only a venue but also access to a global network of expertise, cutting-edge resources, and local talent.

The venue hosts several engineering exhibits that celebrate local innovation and industry partnerships. In the Atrium, the Born in Birmingham exhibit showcases colourful glass panels that highlight engineering and technology breakthroughs from the region, demonstrating its strong connections to the automotive and rail industries.

In the Lodge Rooms, Women in Engineering honours the trailblazing women – past and present – who have shaped the industry.

The 100 Ideas That Changed the World exhibit, located in the main stairwell, links the venue’s ground and first floors with a display of world-changing innovations selected by IET members. Meanwhile, in the Reception, the Welcome Display illuminates Birmingham’s legacy of invention, celebrating remarkable engineers and the impact of their work.

Spaces that inspire

At the heart of Austin Court is the Kingston Lecture Theatre, a purpose-built space for up to 150 guests. This impressive auditorium, extensively renovated in 2019, features tiered seating with foldaway laptop tables, individual power sockets and a private green room with direct stage access. It is equipped with state-of-the-art AV technology, including HD projector walls, a widescreen display and customisable LED lighting, making it perfect for conferences, seminars, award ceremonies – and even pop-up cinema events.

In addition to the Kingston Lecture Theatre, there are 13 versatile spaces to suit a range of events. The Waterside Room, with its double doors opening onto the canal, provides a stunning backdrop for conferences and exhibitions of up to 150 guests, while the characterful Telford Room, with exposed brickwork, offers space for 50 guests with Courtyard views.

Commitment to sustainability

Sustainability is a core focus at Austin Court, aligning with the IET’s mission to reduce its environmental impact. The venue holds an Eco Smart Greengage Gold Award and Green Tourism Silver Accreditation, alongside the Investors in the Environment Silver Accreditation. The venue reduces waste with on-site water purification, energy-efficient lighting, and a comprehensive recycling programme. Catering focuses on local, ethical sourcing, with 80% of food suppliers within 30 miles and only free-range eggs and MCS-approved seafood used. Plus, a carbon calculator helps attendees measure travel emissions, supporting greener events.

Austin Court is proud to be affiliated with several leading industry organisations, underscoring its commitment to maintaining the highest standards in event management. The venue is a member of beam, an association known for its focus on professional excellence and best practices.
