The latest official figures forecast growth in the UK Events Industry from its existing £36.1 billion, to £42.2 billion in just three years. In light of this, IET Venues, the premier family of venues for London, Birmingham and Glasgow is calling on companies to help facilitate this growth by ‘Buying British’.
IET Venues has demonstrated this commitment and support by signing up to the annual Britain for Events campaign designed to promote Britain as a world class destination for events and celebrating the talent behind hosting, producing and managing these events.
Focusing on every aspect from live music and sport, festivals and cultural events to meetings and conferences, exhibitions and trade shows; Britain for Events is an effective way for businesses to align themselves with a campaign which positions Britain as a hub of global experts in all aspects of events and encouraging people to ‘Buy British’.
“The next six months will be a truly exciting time for the UK events industry and a great opportunity for all those involved to showcase their skills and expertise to put on a good show, particularly as the world’s eyes will be upon us,” comments Sean Spencer, IET Venues & Facilities Manager. “IET Venues is thrilled to be part of this network and encourage others to join in this effort to help showcase how essential the UK events industry is to the growth of the nation’s economy.”

Running from September 2011 to March 2012, the Britain for Events campaign has received wide support from a variety of ministers including David Cameron and Minister for Tourism, John Penrose The campaign will culminate in a week of events and activities, including the International Confex trade show, taking place at ExCeL London where IET Venues will be exhibiting on stand B1511 what it has to offer throughout 2012.
Now in its 10th year, the campaign is supported by the Business Visits & Events Partnership (BVEP), VisitBritain, International Confex and a stakeholder network of over 27 UK-based trade bodies and associations; it is also championed by other partners including venues, destinations, event suppliers and corporate supporters.
